As part of the MSD General Services Agreement for Sewer and Channel Design, Intuition & Logic evaluated and designed a solution to alleviate flooding and halt erosion and bank instability on approximately 300 feet of an unnamed tributary to Gravois Creek through residential subdivisions along Paddock Court and Fieldcrest Drive in Crestwood, Missouri. The existing channel was highly degraded with steep, eroding banks, and there was a 6-foot drop from the existing culvert outfall to the channel bed.  There was minimal existing riparian corridor, as yards are maintained often to the top of slope

Proposedimprovements included replacing the existing twin 48” RCP with twin 10’x5’ RCB culverts, installing 120 feet of new modular block retaining walls for the upstream and downstream culvert wingwalls, composite revetment bank stabilization, and three boulder drop and rock grade control structures.  Composite revetment is a biostabilization technique that mixes live, native plantings with rock armoring to form robust, natural riparian vegetation on stabilized banks to accommodate high velocity urban flows.

Intuition & Logic provided analysis through final design, construction documents, permitting (including a FEMA No-Rise) and easement documents.
